Ideal home-away-from home for groups and/or families, this large, convenient, updated home features 3BR/1.5 baths, big off-street parking spot, high speed wifi (1 gig), private yard/rear patio, a fully-equipped kitchen, linens, lots of storage and ‘bonus’ space. The front and rear outdoor spaces - including a comfortable front porch swing - offer a real sense of home. Located in the friendly, diverse "Petworth" neighborhood, the home is just a short walk (2 blocks) to metro (‘Georgia Avenue-Petworth’ on the green/yellow lines) and a quick metro ride or drive down to the heart of DC's business, commercial, and tourist areas.
ENTRY: From the front sidewalk, there are 2 short sets of stairs to reach the front porch and entry.
FIRST FLOOR: Large entry foyer opens into living/dining/kitchen spaces, which can also be separated using the preserved historic pocket door (between living/dining room) and the door in the front hallway leading to kitchen. Off the kitchen is a small, cheerful half-bath. Off the kitchen is a 3-season (unheated, but fully enclosed) sunroom and access to the back patio, fenced yard, and rear parking space.
SECOND FLOOR: All 3 bedrooms, the dual-sink bathroom with walk-in shower, and bonus room (off the rear King BR) with laundry and large desk are located on this level. A large walk-in 'jack and jill' closet connects the large front room (with bunk bed plus 2 twins) and the rear King BR - these doors can also remain closed. This closet is also large enough to fit a pack-and-play, which is also available.
YARD: The walk-out patio and fenced rear yard is accessible off the kitchen/sun porch. The patio has a dining table, chairs and sun umbrella. VRBO guests are NOT permitted to use any grill. At the back end of the yard is access to the big parking space, which is also where trash/recycling cans are stored.
PARKING: The rear parking space is very big and easily fits large cars (probably not suitable for an oversized camper, though). It is accessed via the alley. Street parking is relatively easy, too.
AREA: Neighborhood amenities within walking distance (5-10 mins, depending) include groceries (Safeway, Yes Organic Market, Saturday Petworth farmers market), pharmacies (CVS, Safeway), coffee (Buna, Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks) and Petworth’s many independent cafes, bars, restaurants including Timber Pizza, Cinder BBQ, Midlands, Hook Hall, Call Your Mother (bagels), Lulubell’s (ice cream and more).
Getting Around: 8 mile to Medstar Washington Hospital Center and Children's National Hospital. And only 5 minute walk to the green/yellow line metro at Georgia Avenue metro stop. Easy driving access to all points in DC. National Airport and Pentagon are a direct ride on the metro (appx 20-23 mins to reach them).
